  1                    Senate Resolution No.     

  2         A resolution honoring the Florida State

  3         University School of Theatre on its 25th

  4         Anniversary.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, The FSU School of Theatre is celebrating its

  7  25th anniversary as a discrete academic unit of the Florida

  8  State University in 1998, and

  9         WHEREAS, the FSU School of Theatre has been celebrated

10  by U.S. News and World Report and other national organizations

11  as one of the leading theatre-training programs in the United

12  States, and

13         WHEREAS, the FSU School of Theatre has been designated

14  as the "flagship" theatre-training program in this state by

15  nationally recognized consultants in the arts in higher

16  education, and

17         WHEREAS, the FSU School of Theatre has educated a long

18  and distinguished list of graduates who have made positive

19  contributions to education and the entertainment industry,

20  nationally and internationally, and

21         WHEREAS, the FSU School of Theatre has brought to this

22  state internationally celebrated artists and teachers to teach

23  and perform, and

24         WHEREAS, the FSU School of Theatre established the

25  Asolo State Theatre in Sarasota, one of the leading

26  professional theatres in America, and

27         WHEREAS, the FSU School of Theatre has provided to its

28  communities in Sarasota and Tallahassee productions of the

29  highest quality for entertainment and enlightenment, NOW,

30  THEREFORE,

  1  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

  2

  3         That the Florida State University School of Theatre is

  4  commended on its Silver Anniversary for 25 years of

  5  extraordinary contributions to the cultural and educational

  6  excellence of this state.

  7         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

  8  with the seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the

  9  Florida State Universary School of Theatre as a tangible token

10  of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
