14 On page 187, between lines 2 and 3,

16 insert:
17 Section 243. Paragraph (e) of subsection (6) of
18 section 483.901, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
19 483.901 Medical physicists; definitions; licensure.--
20 (6) LICENSE REQUIRED.--An individual may not engage in
21 the practice of medical physics, including the specialties of
22 diagnostic radiological physics, therapeutic radiological
23 physics, medical nuclear radiological physics, or medical
24 health physics, without a license issued by the department for
25 the appropriate specialty.
26 (e) On receipt of an application and fee as specified
27 in this section, the department may issue a license to
28 practice medical physics in this state:
29 1. Until October 1, 1998 1997, to a person who meets
30 any of the following requirements:
31 a. Earned from an accredited college or university a

1 doctoral degree in physics, medical physics, biophysics,
2 radiological physics, medical health physics, or nuclear
3 engineering and has at least 2 years' experience in the
4 practice of the medical physics specialty for which
5 application is made.
6 b. Earned from an accredited college or university a
7 master's degree in physics, medical physics, biophysics,
8 radiological physics, medical health physics, or nuclear
9 engineering and has at least 3 years' experience in the
10 practice of the medical physics specialty for which
11 application is made.
12 c. Earned from an accredited college or university a
13 bachelor's degree in physics and has at least 5 years'
14 experience in the practice of the medical physics specialty
15 for which application is made.
16 d. Has at least 8 years' experience in the practice of
17 the medical physics specialty for which application is made, 2
18 years of which must have been earned within the 4 years
19 immediately preceding application for licensure.
20 e. Is board certified in the medical physics specialty
21 in which the applicant applies to practice by the American
22 Board of Radiology for diagnostic radiological physics,
23 therapeutic radiological physics, or medical nuclear
24 radiological physics; by the American Board of Medical Physics
25 or the Canadian Board of Medical Physics for diagnostic
26 radiological physics, therapeutic radiological physics, or
27 medical nuclear radiological physics; or by the American Board
28 of Health Physics or an equivalent certifying body approved by
29 the agency.
30 2. On or after October 1, 1997, to a person who is
31 board certified in the medical physics specialty in which the

1 applicant applies to practice by the American Board of
2 Radiology for diagnostic radiological physics, therapeutic

6 medical nuclear radiological physics; or by the American Board
7 of Health Physics or an equivalent certifying body approved by
8 the department.
