  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to windstorm insurance risk

  3         apportionment; amending s. 627.351, F.S.;

  4         continuing the prohibition on extending

  5         eligibility for coverage from the Florida

  6         Windstorm Underwriting Association to any area

  7         that was not eligible on March 1, 1997;

  8         deleting the scheduled repeal of this

  9         prohibition; providing an effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13         Section 1.  Paragraph (e) of subsection (2) of section

14  627.351, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

15         627.351  Insurance risk apportionment plans.--

16         (2)  WINDSTORM INSURANCE RISK APPORTIONMENT.--

17         (e)  Notwithstanding the provisions of subparagraph

18  (c)2. or paragraph (d), eligibility shall not be extended to

19  any area that was not eligible on March 1, 1997, except that

20  the department may act with respect to any petition on which a

21  hearing was held prior to the effective date of this act. This

22  paragraph is repealed on October 1, 1998.

23         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

24  law.

27                          SENATE SUMMARY

28    Abrogates the scheduled repeal of the prohibition on
      extending eligibility for windstorm insurance coverage
29    from the Windstorm Underwriting Association, which
      prohibition was scheduled for repeal on October 1, 1998.
