2 A resolution recognizing the 50th Anniversary
3 of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians and
4 recognizing May 24, 1998, as Family Physician
5 Day.

7 WHEREAS, family physicians have a long history of
8 dedication to the health and well being of the residents of
9 this state, and
10 WHEREAS, the scope of the family physician's practice
11 is not limited by the patient's age or sex or by a particular
12 organ system or disease entity, and
13 WHEREAS, the goal of the family physician is to provide
14 high-quality, comprehensive, and continuing medical care at
15 reasonable costs, and
16 WHEREAS, family physicians are filling an increasingly
17 important role in the health care system by providing and
18 coordinating the care of all patients, and
19 WHEREAS, there is a continuing commitment from the
20 specialty of family practice to upgrade the quality of medical
21 care available for all persons, and
22 WHEREAS, the Florida Academy of Family Physicians was
23 chartered on May 24, 1948, as a constituent chapter of the
24 American Academy of Family Physicians, to advance and
25 represent the specialty of family practice, and
26 WHEREAS, the 3,400 members of the Florida Academy of
27 Family Physicians, affiliated with the 85,000-member American
28 Academy, are commemorating 50 years of caring on May 24, 1998,
29 NOW, THEREFORE,

31 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

2 That the Florida Academy of Family Physicians is
3 commended on the 50th Anniversary of its founding.
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that May 24, 1998, is recognized
5 as Family Physician Day by the Florida Senate.
