  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Long-Term-Care Community

  3         Diversion Pilot Project; amending s. 430.705,

  4         F.S.; providing for choice, to the extent

  5         possible, of long-term-care service providers

  6         affiliated with an individual's religious faith

  7         or denomination; providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10

11         Section 1.  Subsection (3) of section 430.705, Florida

12  Statutes, is amended to read:

13         430.705  Implementation of the long-term care community

14  diversion pilot projects.--

15         (3)  The department shall provide to prospective

16  participants a choice of participating in a community

17  diversion pilot project or any other appropriate placement

18  available.  To the extent possible, individuals shall be

19  allowed to choose their care providers, including

20  long-term-care service providers affiliated with an

21  individual's religious faith or denomination.

22         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

23  law.

  1          STATEMENT OF SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES CONTAINED IN
                       COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR
  2                         Senate Bill 2324

    -    Provides that, to the extent possible, participants shall
  5       be allowed to choose their care providers including those
         providers affiliated with their religious faith or
  6       denomination.

  7  -    Deletes the requirements that the department provide
         prospective participants a list of participating
  8       providers, identifying any affiliation with a religious
         faith or denomination in the same type-size as the
  9       provider's name.

10  -    Deletes the requirement that, in situations in which a
         mandated managed long-term care system in implemented to
11       serve Medicaid eligible persons, prior to receipt of
         long-term care services, the participant may request to
12       receive services from a provider affiliated with their
         faith or denomination.
