  1                    Senate Resolution No.     

  2         A resolution recognizing a distinguished

  3         delegation of Russians from St. Petersburg,

  4         Russia, visiting St. Petersburg, Florida, and

  5         our Capital City.

  6

  7         WHEREAS, former Governor Bob Martinez and Mr. Don

  8  Brophy, President and CEO of the DRB Group of St. Petersburg,

  9  Florida, have brought a distinguished delegation from St.

10  Petersburg, Russia, for the purpose of visiting modern

11  healthcare facilities in Florida, and

12         WHEREAS, the delegation, which has come here to foster

13  trust among government and business leaders in the United

14  States and Russia, consists of Mr. Oleg Sergeyev, who is a

15  member of the Duma, the legislature of St. Petersburg, Russia,

16  and Chair of its Health Committee; Mr. Yury Petrov, who is

17  Chair of the St. Petersburg City Health Committee for

18  International Business; Mr. Boris Taits, who is First Deputy

19  of the St. Petersburg City Health Committee; and Mr. Vladimir

20  Y. Shneiderman, who is President and CEO of Med Express, and

21         WHEREAS, the DRB Group of St. Petersburg, Florida, has

22  a letter of engagement to reform the St. Petersburg, Russia,

23  healthcare system, and, while in the Tampa Bay area, the

24  delegation will meet with health officials at the University

25  of South Florida and Tampa General Hospital, and

26         WHEREAS, the delegation's visit will strengthen the

27  sisters' city program between St. Petersburg, Russia, and St.

28  Petersburg, Florida; will increase international trade between

29  our countries; and will give the delegation an opportunity to

30  observe how Florida's public institutions function and serve

31  the public, NOW, THEREFORE,

  1  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

  2

  3         That the Florida Senate commends the Russian delegation

  4  and the DRB Group for its exemplary efforts to expand

  5  international trade and bring better healthcare to the people

  6  of St. Petersburg, Russia.

  7         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

  8  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to each

  9  member of the Russian delegation as a tangible token of the

10  sentiments and good wishes of the Florida Senate.
