  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the re-creation of the Legal

  3         Services Trust Fund without modification;

  4         re-creating the Legal Services Trust Fund;

  5         carrying forward current balances and

  6         continuing current sources and uses; providing

  7         an effective date.

  8

  9         WHEREAS, the Legislature desires to extend the life of

10  the Legal Services Trust Fund, which is otherwise scheduled to

11  be terminated pursuant to constitutional mandate, and

12         WHEREAS, the Legislature has reviewed the Legal

13  Services Trust Fund prior to its scheduled termination date

14  and has determined that it continues to meet an important

15  public purpose, and

16         WHEREAS, the Legislature has determined that existing

17  public policy concerning the Legal Services Trust Fund sets

18  adequate parameters for its use, NOW, THEREFORE,

19

20  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

21

22         Section 1.  The Legal Services Trust Fund within the

23  Department of Legal Affairs, which was created by section

24  16.535, Florida Statutes, and which is to be terminated

25  pursuant to Section 19(f), Article III of the State

26  Constitution on November 4, 2000, is hereby re-created.

27         Section 2.  All current balances of the Legal Services

28  Trust Fund are hereby carried forward, and all current sources

29  and uses of the trust fund are hereby continued.

30         Section 3.  This act shall take effect November 4,

31  2000.
