1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to the re-creation of the
3 Florida Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention Trust
4 Fund without modification; re-creating the
5 Florida Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention Trust
6 Fund; carrying forward current balances and
7 continuing current sources and uses; providing
8 an effective date.

10 WHEREAS, the Legislature desires to extend the life of
11 the Florida Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention Trust Fund, which
12 is otherwise scheduled to be terminated pursuant to
13 constitutional mandate, and
14 WHEREAS, the Legislature has reviewed the Florida Motor
15 Vehicle Theft Prevention Trust Fund prior to its scheduled
16 termination date and has determined that it continues to meet
17 an important public purpose, and
18 WHEREAS, the Legislature has determined that existing
19 public policy concerning the Florida Motor Vehicle Theft
20 Prevention Trust Fund sets adequate parameters for its use,
21 NOW, THEREFORE,

23 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

25 Section 1. The Florida Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention
26 Trust Fund within the Department of Legal Affairs, which was
27 created by section 860.158, Florida Statutes, and which is to
28 be terminated pursuant to Section 19(f), Article III of the
29 State Constitution on November 4, 2000, is hereby re-created.
30 Section 2. All current balances of the Florida Motor
31 Vehicle Theft Prevention Trust Fund are hereby carried forward

1 and all current sources and uses of the trust fund are hereby
2 continued.
3 Section 3. This act shall take effect November 4,
4 2000.

7 SENATE SUMMARY
8 Re-creates, without modification, the Florida Motor
Vehicle Theft Prevention Trust Fund within the Department
9 of Legal Affairs and carries forward its current balances
and continues its current sources and uses.
