1 Senate Resolution No.
2 A resolution recognizing March 24, 1998, as
3 "Stop Day Enough Is Enough Day" in this state.

5 WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County public schools and the
6 United Teachers of Dade initiated the "Stop Day Enough Is
7 Enough" program in the Miami-Dade public school system in
8 1994, to proclaim that violence and weapons will not be
9 tolerated in that school system, and
10 WHEREAS, the "Stop Day Enough Is Enough" program has
11 been observed in each succeeding year in the Miami-Dade public
12 schools, and
13 WHEREAS, the Florida School Boards Association and the
14 the Florida Association of School Superintendents have
15 endorsed the "Stop Day Enough Is Enough" program and have
16 requested that it be implemented in all public school systems
17 in this state, and
18 WHEREAS, this year's "Stop Day Enough Is Enough"
19 program will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on March 24, 1998,
20 during which the Governor and Commissioner of Education will
21 administer a televised pledge that will be viewed in all the
22 school districts in the state, and
23 WHEREAS, the "Stop Day Enough Is Enough" program
24 encourages schools to create special projects, events, and
25 lessons that focus on reducing violence, improving skills for
26 conflict resolution, and enhancing respect for others in order
27 to make the public school systems in this state safer and more
28 disciplined environments, and
29 WHEREAS, the Florida Senate encourages the goals of the
30 "Stop Day Enough Is Enough" program, NOW, THEREFORE,

1 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

3 That March 24, 1998, is recognized as "Stop Day Enough
4 Is Enough Day" in this state.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all persons in this state
6 are encouraged to wear white clothing and white ribbons and to
7 drive with their vehicle headlights on during this day to
8 emphasize their commitment to stopping violence.
