  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to Broward County and the South

  3         Broward Hospital District; amending chapter

  4         24415, Laws of Florida, 1947, as amended;

  5         providing that the South Broward Hospital

  6         District is not a "public body" or "taxing

  7         authority" for purposes of part III, chapter

  8         163, F.S.; providing an exception with respect

  9         to community redevelopment agencies created

10         before a specified date; providing an effective

11         date.

13  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15         Section 1.  Section 41 is added to chapter 24415, Laws

16  of Florida, 1947, as amended, to read:

17         Section 41.  (1)  Notwithstanding the provisions of

18  part III of chapter 163, Florida Statutes, the district is not

19  a "public body" or "taxing authority," for the purposes of

20  part III of chapter 163, Florida Statutes.

21         (2)  This section shall not apply with respect to any

22  community redevelopment agencies established prior to January

23  1, 1998.

24         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

25  law.
