  1                    Senate Resolution No.     

  2         A resolution honoring Archibald "Arch" Wilton

  3         McLean, Jr. for his adventurist spirit and

  4         contributions to Florida's construction

  5         industry and the governmental relations

  6         community in Tallahassee.

  7

  8         WHEREAS, Arch McLean was born in North Carolina on

  9  December 16, 1953, of Scottish descent, and followed in his

10  father's footsteps by joining the St. Andrews Society, an

11  organization of which his father had been president in North

12  Carolina, and

13         WHEREAS, Arch McLean moved to Florida and established a

14  career in the construction industry, and

15         WHEREAS, Arch McLean gained the respect of his peers

16  and was selected as Executive Vice President of the Central

17  Florida Chapter of Associated General Contractors, and became

18  Executive Director of the Florida Associated General

19  Contractors Council, and

20         WHEREAS, Arch McLean was a faithful advocate and

21  defender of Florida's general contractors, always behaving as

22  a gentleman and in a professional manner, and

23         WHEREAS, Arch McLean was a loving and devoted son,

24  brother, and uncle and a kind and considerate neighbor and

25  faithful friend, always demonstrating a love of life, and

26         WHEREAS, Arch McLean challenged himself by competing in

27  triathlons and other demanding sports, including scuba diving

28  and snow skiing, and

29         WHEREAS, Arch McLean's love for life's challenges

30  ultimately lead to his untimely demise when he was tragically

  1  killed in a skydiving accident over the Thanksgiving Holiday

  2  in 1997, NOW, THEREFORE,

  3

  4  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

  5

  6         That Arch McLean is remembered and commended for his

  7  many contributions to the construction industry and

  8  Tallahassee's professional lobbying corps.

  9         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

10  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the

11  family of Arch McLean as a tangible token of the sentiments of

12  the Florida Senate.
