1 Senate Resolution No.
2 A resolution honoring Susan Ryan, a fifth-grade
3 teacher at Tavares Elementary School, as Lake
4 County Teacher of the Year.

6 WHEREAS, Susan Ryan has a Master's Degree in Elementary
7 Education from the University of Central Florida, has 19 years
8 of teaching experience in Florida, and this year has been
9 named Lake County's Teacher of the Year, and
10 WHEREAS, Susan Ryan holds a Florida Teaching
11 Certificate in Elementary Education with endorsements in
12 Music, English as a Second Language, and Gifted Education, and
13 WHEREAS, Susan Ryan co-authored Florida's Environmental
14 Activity Guide, an activity book for environmental education,
15 and she has participated in the development of materials on
16 energy-related topics for teachers and students through her
17 involvement in Florida State University's Energy and
18 Environmental Alliance, and
19 WHEREAS, Susan Ryan has given more than 20 workshops to
20 teachers throughout Florida on science-teaching methods and
21 has presented at three Elementary Education Conferences, the
22 League of Environmental Educators Conference, and the Florida
23 Association of Science Teachers Conference, and
24 WHEREAS, Susan Ryan wrote, "Each day in my classroom my
25 students have small victories they can call their own. My
26 greatest accomplishments are their accomplishments", NOW,

29 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

1 That Susan Ryan is commended for her lifelong
2 dedication to teaching and for being named Lake County Teacher
3 of the Year for 1998.
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,
5 with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Susan
6 Ryan as a tangible token of the sentiments and good wishes of
7 the Florida Senate.
