  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to water management employees;

  3         creating s. 373.0835, F.S.; prohibiting former

  4         water management employees from representing

  5         another person or entity for compensation for a

  6         certain period of time following vacation of

  7         position with a water management district;

  8         providing a penalty; providing an effective

  9         date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13         Section 1.  Section 373.0835, Florida Statutes, is

14  created to read:

15         373.0835  Water management employees; prohibition on

16  lobbying; penalty.--

17         (1)  No employee of a water management district shall

18  personally represent another person or entity for compensation

19  before any water management district in the state for a period

20  of 2 years following vacation of position, unless employed by

21  another agency of state government.

22         (2)  Any person who violates the provisions of this act

23  is guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as

24  provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect October 1, 1997.
