Korenblit Overpass"; 11 directing the Department of Transportation to 12 erect suitable markers; providing an effective 13 date. 14 15 WHEREAS, Ben G. Watts dedicated 23 years of his life to 16 public service with the Florida Department of Transportation, 17 and 18 WHEREAS, Ben G. Watts served a vital role in 19 development of Central Florida's transportation planning and 20 funding from 1984 to 1989, first as Director of Production and 21 then as District Secretary of the Florida Department of 22 Transportation's District Five, and 23 WHEREAS, Ben G. Watts served from 1989 to 1997 as 24 Secretary of Transportation for the State of Florida, and 25 WHEREAS, Ben G. Watts has been a leader in efforts to 26 address the transportation needs of the State of Florida, and 27 WHEREAS, under the leadership of Ben G. Watts has advocated and cultivated an 2 atmosphere of cooperation between municipal, county, and state 3 governments as they address transportation needs and issues, 4 and 5 WHEREAS, Ben G. Watts has been a visionary in 6 supporting alternative forms of transportation while 7 preserving and expanding Florida's vital road and bridge 8 infrastructure, and 9 WHEREAS, Ben G. Watts has demonstrated a standard of 10 integrity toward which all public servants should strive, and 11 WHEREAS, Ben G. Watts is among the State of Florida's 12 most respected leaders in the transportation field, and 13 WHEREAS, Father Felix Ullrich was an early pioneer of 14 Christian activity in Pasco County, and 15 WHEREAS, Father Felix Ullrich said his first Mass in 16 Pasco County in 1913, and 17 WHEREAS, Father Felix Ullrich founded Queen of Peace 18 Catholic Church of Pasco County in 1919 and became its first 19 resident priest in 1922, and 20 WHEREAS, Father Felix Ullrich has had a positive 21 influence on Pasco County through his economic and social 22 activities, and 23 WHEREAS, honoring Father Felix Ullrich would be a means 24 of recognizing the pioneering spirit of all who came before 25 us, while recognizing the contributions made by this humble 26 man for his tireless labor for the community, and 27 WHEREAS, Jack I. Korenblit came to Florida as a 28 persecuted Jewish immigrant in search of freedom, and 29 WHEREAS, Jack I. Korenblit served his community in 4 leadership positions with the Cancer Society and United Way, 5 and 6 WHEREAS, Jack I. Korenblit improved his community by 7 donating properties used for area parks, and 8 WHEREAS, Jack I. Korenblit donated the property used 9 for the Fiske Boulevard overpass at Interstate Highway 95, 10 NOW, THEREFORE, 11 12 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 13 14 Section 1. Designation of "Ben G. Watts Building"; 15 Department of Transportation to erect suitable markers.-- 16 (1) The Florida Department of Transportation District 17 Five headquarters building, which is located at 719 South 18 Woodland Boulevard in DeLand, Florida, in Volusia County, is 19 designated as the "Ben G. Watts Building." 20 (2) The Department of Transportation is directed to 21 erect suitable markers designating the "Ben G. Watts Building" 22 as described in subsection (1). 23 Section 2. State bridge 140067 designated "Father 24 Felix Ullrich Bridge"; Department of Transportation to erect 25 suitable markers.-- 26 (1) State bridge 140067 located on State Road 54 in 27 Pasco County is hereby designated the "Father Felix Ullrich 28 Bridge." 29 (2) The Department of Transportation is directed to 30 erect suitable markers designating the "Father Felix Ullrich 31 Bridge" as described in subsection (1). 3 CODING: Words stricken are deletions; words underlined are additions. Korenblit Overpass"; Department 3 of Transportation to erect suitable markers.-- 4 (1) Fiske Boulevard overpass located at Interstate 5 Highway 95 in Rockledge is hereby designated the "Jack I. 6 Korenblit Overpass." 7 (2) The Department of Transportation is directed to 8 erect suitable markers designating the "Jack I.
