Florida House of Representatives - 1997 HB 309 By Representative Warner 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to the Constitution Revision 3 Commission; prescribing duties of the Joint 4 Legislative Management Committee; authorizing 5 the chairman of the commission to incur 6 expenses, expend funds, and employ personnel; 7 directing agencies to assist the commission; 8 providing an appropriation; providing an 9 effective date. 10 11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12 13 Section 1. (1) The Joint Legislative Management 14 Committee is the fiscal officer for the Constitution Revision 15 Commission and shall provide the requisite support to the 16 commission. 17 (2) The chairman of the Constitution Revision 18 Commission, appointed pursuant to Section 2, Article XI, of 19 the State Constitution, is authorized to employ personnel and 20 to incur expenses related to the official operation of the 21 commission or its committees, to sign vouchers, and to 22 otherwise expend funds appropriated to the commission for 23 carrying out its official duties. 24 (3) State and local agencies shall assist the 25 Constitution Revision Commission, in any manner necessary, 26 when requested to do so by the commission or its chairman. 27 Section 2. The sum of $200,000 is appropriated from 28 the General Revenue Fund to the Constitution Revision 29 Commission to compensate staff, procure commission equipment, 30 and pay per diem and travel expenses for commission members 31 and authorized staff. 1 CODING: Words stricken are deletions; words underlined are additions. Moneys appropriated to the Constitution 2 Revision Commission by this act and not expended by June 30, 3 1997, shall not revert to the General Revenue Fund, but those 4 moneys are reappropriated to the Constitution Revision 5 Commission for the 1997-1998 fiscal year. 6 Section 4. This act shall take effect upon becoming a 7 law. 8 9 ***************************************** 10 SENATE SUMMARY 11 Provides that the Joint Legislative Management Committee is the fiscal officer for the Constitution Revision 12 Commission and is to provide support to the commission. Authorizes the chairman of the commission to incur 13 expenses, expend funds, and employ personnel. Directs state and local agencies to assist the commission upon 14 request. Appropriates $200,000 from general revenue to fund operations of the commission through the 1996-1997 15 fiscal year.
