16 insert:
17 Section 9. Subsection (2) of section 817.567, Florida
18 Statutes, is amended to read:
19 817.567 Making false claims of academic degree or
20 title.--
21 (2) A No person awarded a doctorate degree from an
22 institution not listed in subsection (1) may not shall claim
23 in the state, either orally or in writing, the title "Dr."
24 before the person's name or any mark, appellation, or series
25 of letters, numbers, or words, such as, but not limited to,
26 "Ph.D.," "Ed.D.," "D.N.," or "N.D.," "D.Th.," which signifies,
27 purports, or is generally taken to signify satisfactory
28 completion of the requirements of a doctorate degree, after
29 the person's name, unless the person discloses that the degree
30 was granted by an institution not recognized by the state or
31 by the Federal Government. This disclosure must be made
