  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to crime prevention; creating

  3         s. 960.0015, F.S.; providing legislative

  4         findings; authorizing the Department of Legal

  5         Affairs, state attorneys, Department of

  6         Corrections, Department of Juvenile Justice,

  7         Parole Commission, State Courts Administrator,

  8         county sheriff's and local police departments,

  9         and other law enforcement agencies to

10         participate in crime prevention and crime

11         prevention education activities; providing an

12         effective date.

14  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

16         Section 1.  Section 960.0015, Florida Statutes, is

17  created to read:

18         960.0015  Crime prevention efforts to enhance

19  protection of individual personal safety and property in

20  accordance with State Comprehensive Plan goal; implementation

21  by agencies.--

22         (1)  The Legislature finds that:

23         (a)  By preventing future crimes that would produce new

24  victims or further harm former victims, crime prevention

25  efforts are an essential part of the state's provision of

26  effective services to victims and witnesses.

27         (b)  Crime prevention and crime prevention education

28  activities by appropriate agencies of the state will further

29  implementation of the State Comprehensive Plan goal of

30  increasing crime prevention efforts to enhance the protection

  1  of individual personal safety and property, as prescribed in

  2  s. 187.201(7)(b)9.

  3         (2)  The Department of Legal Affairs, the state

  4  attorneys, the Department of Corrections, the Department of

  5  Juvenile Justice, the Parole Commission, the State Courts

  6  Administrator, county sheriff's departments, municipal police

  7  departments, and other law enforcement agencies described in

  8  s. 960.001(1) may participate in crime prevention and crime

  9  prevention education activities.

10         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1 of the

11  year in which enacted.

14                          HOUSE SUMMARY

      Provides legislative findings relating to implementation
16    of the State Comprehensive Plan goal of increasing crime
      prevention efforts to enhance protection of individual
17    personal safety and property. Authorizes the Department
      of Legal Affairs, state attorneys, Department of
18    Corrections, Department of Juvenile Justice, Parole
      Commission, State Courts Administrator, county sheriff's
19    and local police departments, and other law enforcement
      agencies to participate in crime prevention and crime
20    prevention education activities.
