  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to education; amending s.

  3         233.058, F.S.; requiring school district

  4         procedures to allow parents to remove a student

  5         from an English for Speakers of Other Languages

  6         program without certain reassessment; providing

  7         an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Paragraph (c) of subsection (3) of section

12  233.058, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

13         233.058  English language instruction for limited

14  English proficient students.--

15         (3)  Each school district shall implement the following

16  procedures:

17         (c)  Provide for student exit from and reclassification

18  into the program, to include authorization for the parents of

19  a student with limited English proficiency to remove such

20  student from an ESOL program at any time without reassessment

21  of the student's English proficiency by an LEP committee.

22         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1 of the

23  year in which enacted.
