  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to public universities;

  3         requiring public universities to include fine

  4         arts courses grades when calculating

  5         grade-point averages for certain purposes;

  6         providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  In calculating grade-point averages, for

11  purposes of admitting students and for purposes of awarding

12  Florida Bright Futures Scholarships and Florida Academic

13  Scholars Awards, public universities in this state must

14  include all grades earned in fine arts courses with the same

15  weight as core curriculum courses.

16         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1998.
