  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to obtaining property by false

  3         personation; amending s. 817.02, F.S.;

  4         providing that obtaining property by false

  5         personation is a second-degree felony;

  6         providing penalties; providing an effective

  7         date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Section 817.02, Florida Statutes, is

12  amended to read:

13         817.02  Obtaining property by false

14  personation.--Whoever falsely personates or represents

15  another, and in such assumed character receives any property

16  intended to be delivered to the party so personated, with

17  intent to convert the same to his or her own use, commits a

18  felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s.

19  775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084 shall be punished as if he

20  or she had been convicted of larceny.

21         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1998.
