  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Department of

  3         Agriculture and Consumer Services; requiring

  4         the department to establish a residential tree

  5         replacement program for residential trees

  6         removed due to infestation by or exposure to

  7         citrus canker disease; requiring the department

  8         to prepare a report on the program; providing

  9         for submission of the report by January 1,

10         1999; providing an effective date.

12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13

14         Section 1.  The Department of Agriculture and Consumer

15  Services shall establish a residential tree replacement

16  program for residential trees removed due to exposure to or

17  infestation by citrus canker disease. The department shall

18  prepare a report which sets forth the objectives of the

19  program and the methods by which the program shall be

20  implemented. The report shall be submitted to the Governor,

21  the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of

22  Representatives, the Agriculture Committee of the Senate, and

23  the Agriculture Committee of the House of Representatives by

24  January 1, 1999.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1 of the

26  year in which enacted.
