14 On page 1, lines 13-18, delete those lines

16 and insert: and a body corporate and politic, may, pursuant
17 to the provisions of s. 191.005(1)(a), Florida Statutes, and
18 this act, be governed by a three-member board if proposed by
19 resolution of the governing board of a district adopted no
20 later than 30 days after the effective date of this act and
21 approved by vote of the electors of the district in a
22 referendum to be held at the same time as the first primary
23 election in 1998. The ballot question shall read:

25 The governing board of the District
26 proposes that the district continue to be
27 governed by a three-member governing board. If
28 approved by the electorate, the governing board
29 will have three members and seats will be
30 open on the 1998 general election ballot. If
31 not approved, the governing board will have

9 Section 2. If a referendum proposing to keep
10 the governing board at three members is approved by
11 the voters, the candidates who qualified for the
12 fourth and fifth seats on the board shall be refunded
13 any qualifying fees paid, and no vote shall occur for
14 the fourth and fifth seats at the general election.
15 Elections held for the governing board after the 1998
16 general election shall be in accordance with the terms
17 of s. 191.005, Florida Statutes.
