  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to telecommunications services;

  3         amending s. 364.0251, F.S.; deleting obsolete

  4         provisions; requiring the Florida Public

  5         Service Commission to maintain a consumer

  6         information program to a certain extent;

  7         providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Section 364.0251, Florida Statutes, is

12  amended to read:

13         364.0251  Competitive providers of local service;

14  implementation of consumer information program required.--By

15  January 1, 1996, The commission shall implement and maintain a

16  consumer information program to the extent reasonably

17  necessary to protect the public inform subscribers of the

18  possibility under the law of competitive providers of local

19  exchange telecommunications services, their rights as

20  customers of these alternative providers, the commission's

21  regulatory authority over the alternative providers, and any

22  other information the commission deems appropriate.  The

23  commission may, pursuant to this program, require all

24  companies providing local exchange telecommunications services

25  to provide such information in the form of a bill insert.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

27  law.
