  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the North Fort Myers Fire

  3         Control and Rescue Service District, Lee

  4         County, amending ch. 30925, Laws of Florida,

  5         1955, as amended; providing for emergency

  6         medical and rescue response services; providing

  7         an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Subsection (5) is added to section 3 of

12  chapter 30925, Laws of Florida, 1955, as amended by section 1

13  of chapter 77-591, Laws of Florida, section 1 of chapter

14  85-443, Laws of Florida, and section 3 of chapter 91-390, Laws

15  of Florida, to read:

16         Section 3.

17         (5)  In addition to all other rights, powers, and

18  authority of the board as provided by law, as a purpose of the

19  district and to provide for the proper function and operation

20  of the district, the board shall have the right, power, and

21  authority to employ such personnel as deemed necessary for the

22  establishment and maintenance of emergency medical and rescue

23  response services and for the acquistion and maintenance of

24  rescue, medical, and other emergency equipment and property,

25  real or personal, that the board may from time to time deem

26  necessary, subject to the provisions of chapter 401, Florida

27  Statutes, and subject to the approval of the holder of the

28  certificate of need or its equivalent.

29         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

30  law.
