  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Iona McGregor Fire

  3         Protection and Rescue Service District, Lee

  4         County; amending ch. 75-421, Laws of Florida,

  5         as amended; authorizing the board of the

  6         district to establish and maintain emergency

  7         and rescue response services; providing an

  8         effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12         Section 1.  Subsection (3) is added to section 10 of

13  chapter 75-421, Laws of Florida, to read:

14         Section 10.

15         (3)  The board may employ such personnel as deemed

16  necessary for the proper function and operation of the fire

17  district and establish and maintain emergency medical and

18  rescue response services and acquire and maintain rescue,

19  medical, and other emergency equipment, subject to the

20  provisions of chapter 401, Florida Statutes.  All approvals

21  required by chapter 401, Florida Statutes, including, but not

22  limited to, the certificate of public convenience and

23  necessity, must be obtained.

24         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

25  law.
