  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Estero Fire Protection

  3         and Rescue Service District, Lee County;

  4         amending ch. 76-408, Laws of Florida, as

  5         amended; authorizing the district to establish

  6         and maintain emergency medical and rescue

  7         response services; providing an effective date.

  8

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  A new subsection (3) is added to section 10

12  of chapter 76-408, Laws of Florida, as amended, to read:

13         Section 10.

14         (3)  The board may employ such personnel as deemed

15  necessary for the proper function and operation of the fire

16  district and establish and maintain emergency medical and

17  rescue response services and acquire and maintain rescue,

18  medical, and other emergency equipment subject to the

19  provisions of chapter 401, Florida Statutes.  All approvals

20  required by chapter 401, Florida Statutes, including, but not

21  limited to, the certificate of public convenience and

22  necessity, must be obtained.

23         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

24  law.
