17  remove from the bill:  all of said lines

19  and insert in lieu thereof:

20           Contracting for maintenance, repair, remodeling, or

21  improvement by any person licensed under part I of chapter 475

22  while acting as the owner's agent pursuant to that license,

23  where all work requiring a contractor is performed by a

24  contractor who has a current, valid certificate or

25  registration issued under this part to perform such work, and

26  where the aggregate contract for labor, materials, and all

27  other items is less than $5,000; however, this exemption does

28  not apply:

29         (a)  If the maintenance, repair, remodeling, or

30  improvement is a part of a larger or major operation, whether

31  undertaken by the same or a different contractor, or in which
