11  The Committee on Community Affairs offered the following:

14         On page 34, lines 1-9

15  remove from the bill:  all of said lines

17  and insert in lieu thereof:  Except for this section, which

18  takes effect upon becoming law, this act shall take effect

19  upon approval by a majority vote of those qualified electors

20  residing within the proposed corporate limits of the proposed

21  Town of Ponte Vedre as described in section 12 or a majority

22  vote of the qualified electors, excluding the electors in the

23  Palm Valley area, as described in section 13, voting in a

24  referendum election to be called by the St. Johns County

25  Commission to be held November 3, 1998, in accordance with the

26  provisions of law relating to elections currently in force.

27  If a majority of the Palm Valley electors, participating in

28  said referendum, vote against incorporation, the Palm Valley

29  area shall not be included in any town limits ratified by said

30  referendum nor are their votes counted in favor of

31  incorporation.
