  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Sanibel Island Fire

  3         Control District, Lee County; amending ch.

  4         30930, Laws of Florida, 1955, as amended;

  5         providing for the establishment and maintenance

  6         of emergency medical and advanced life support

  7         and rescue services; providing an effective

  8         date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12         Section 1.  Subsection (7) is added to section 3 of

13  chapter 30930, Laws of Florida, as amended by chapters 61-2401

14  and 79-492, Laws of Florida, to read:

15         Section 3.

16         (7)  The board shall have the power to provide for the

17  establishment and maintenance of emergency medical and

18  advanced life support services and rescue services; it may

19  employ personnel necessary for the provision of such services;

20  and it may acquire, maintain, and dispose of such medical,

21  rescue, and other equipment and supplies as necessary for the

22  performance of the services, subject to the provisions of

23  chapter 401, Florida Statutes.  All approvals required by

24  chapter 401, Florida Statutes, including, but not limited to,

25  the certificate of public convenience and necessity, must be

26  obtained.

27         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

28  law.
