11  Senator Williams moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 15, between lines 10 and 11,

16  insert:

17         Section 19.  (1)  The Veterans' Domiciliary Home of

18  Florida located in Lake City, Columbia County, is hereby

19  designated as the "P.F.C. Robert H. Jenkins Veterans'

20  Domiciliary Home of Florida."

21         (2)  The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is

22  hereby directed to erect suitable markers designating the

23  "P.F.C. Robert H. Jenkins Veterans' Domiciliary Home of

24  Florida" as described in subsection (1).

 1  and insert:

 2         Florida; designating a building located in Lake

 3         City as the "P.F.C. Robert H. Jenkins Veterans'

 4         Domiciliary Home of Florida"; directing the

 5         Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs to

 6         erect suitable markers; providing an effective

 7         date.

 8

 9         WHEREAS, on March 5, 1969, Private First Class Robert

10  H. Jenkins' fire base position was assaulted by a North

11  Vietnamese platoon, and

12         WHEREAS, an enemy soldier threw a hand grenade into the

13  fire base position landing next to another Marine, Private

14  First Class Robert H. Jenkins, fully realizing the inevitable

15  results of his actions, pushed his fellow Marine to the ground

16  and absorbed the full impact of the hand grenade explosion,

17  and

18         WHEREAS, Private First Class Robert H. Jenkins was

19  seriously wounded and subsequently succumbed to his wounds and

20  was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor on April 20, 1970,

21  for his heroic actions, and

22         WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the Florida

23  Department of Veterans' Affairs recognize Private First Class

24  Robert H. Jenkins for his service and ultimate sacrifice to

25  his country, NOW, THEREFORE,
