2 An act relating to the Greater Boca Raton Beach
3 Tax District, Palm Beach County; amending
4 sections 1, 2, and 7 of chapter 74-423, Laws of
5 Florida, as amended, providing for a
6 redesignation of the Greater Boca Raton Beach
7 Tax District, compensation of commissioners,
8 and purchases of supplies, equipment, and
9 material; providing an effective date.

11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
12
13 Section 1. Section 1 of chapter 74-423, Laws of
14 Florida, as amended, is amended to read:
15 Section 1. Special tax district.--The Greater Boca
16 Raton Tax District for the acquisition of beach property,
17 created by chapter 74-423, Laws of Florida, as amended by
18 chapter 75-330, Laws of Florida, is redesignated as the
19 Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park Tax District.
20 Section 2. Subsection (7) of section 2 of chapter
21 74-423, Laws of Florida, as created by chapter 82-350, is
22 amended to read:
23 Section 2. Board of commissioners; elections; bond
24 required.--
25 (7) Commissioners shall receive a compensation for
26 attendance at a meeting of the board, or a meeting attended by
27 any commissioner at which the purposes, obligations, or
28 business of the district are discussed or transacted. The
29 amount of said compensation shall be equal to the dollar
30 amount set forth in s. 112.061(6)(a)1., Florida Statutes, as
31 may be amended. In no event shall any commissioner receive

1 compensation for more than one meeting per day based upon the
2 per diem compensation allowable by statute.
3 Section 3. Section 7 of chapter 74-423, Laws of
4 Florida, as amended by chapter 76-323, is amended to read:
5 Section 7. Purchases.--All purchases or leases of
6 supplies, equipment, materials, or office space for use in the
7 operation and maintenance of the district in excess of $5,000
8 $1,000 shall be approved by the board only after competitive
9 bids shall have been sought from at least three different
10 sources of supply. However, if less than three different
11 sources are available, competitive bids shall be accepted from
12 whatever sources are available. During emergencies, the board
13 may, by resolution, authorize the purchase or lease of
14 designated supplies and equipment in excess of the above
15 mentioned limitations without competitive bidding.
16 Section 4. If any provision of this act or the
17 application thereof to any person or circumstance is held
18 invalid, the invalidity shall not affect other provisions or
19 applications of the act which can be given effect without the
20 invalid provision or application, and to this end the
21 provisions of this act are declared severable.
22 Section 5. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
23 law.
