2 An act relating to nursing home administration;
3 amending s. 468.1645, F.S.; revising provisions
4 that exempt from licensure requirements
5 administrators of nursing homes operated by and
6 for persons who rely upon treatment by
7 spiritual means through prayer; providing an
8 effective date.

10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12 Section 1. Subsection (2) of section 468.1645, Florida
13 Statutes, is amended to read:
14 468.1645 Administrator license required.--
15 (2) Nothing in this part or in the rules adopted
16 hereunder shall require an administrator of any facility or
17 institution operated by and a recognized church or religious
18 denomination for persons who rely exclusively upon treatment
19 by spiritual means through prayer, in accordance with the
20 creed or tenets of any organized church or religious
21 denomination, to be licensed as a nursing home administrator
22 if the administrator who is employed only to administer in
23 such facilities or institutions accredited by such church or
24 denomination for the care and treatment of the sick in
25 accordance with its teachings, to be licensed as a nursing
26 home administrator.
27 Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 1997.
