  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to education; amending s.

  3         233.061, F.S.; encouraging school districts to

  4         provide instruction in the history of labor and

  5         business; providing an effective date.

  7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  8

  9         Section 1.  Subsections (2) and (3) of section 233.061,

10  Florida Statutes, are renumbered as subsections (3) and (4),

11  respectively, and a new subsection (2) is added to that

12  section to read:

13         233.061  Required instruction.--

14          (2)  School districts are encouraged to provide

15  instruction in the history of labor and business in this

16  country and state, including the historical legacy of labor as

17  given by successive generations.

18         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1998.
