  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to education; requiring

  3         students in community control programs to

  4         attend public education adult and community

  5         night school education programs if available;

  6         requiring employment; requiring disclosure of

  7         certain information if a student attends day

  8         school; providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12         Section 1.  (1)  The intent of this section is to

13  create a positive and safe learning environment for the

14  children of Florida and to keep disruptive children who break

15  the law off the streets when they are most likely to engage in

16  activities in violation of the law.

17         (2)  A public school student who has been placed in a

18  community control program must attend a public education adult

19  and community night school education program while in the

20  community control program if the school district offers such

21  night school program.  While enrolled in a public education

22  adult and community night school education program, a student

23  must work a minimum of 40 hours per week during the hours he

24  or she is not attending night school.  If a student attends

25  day school because a public education adult and community

26  night school education program is not available in the school

27  district, the identity of the student, the nature of the

28  offense committed by the student, and the conditions of

29  community control must be made known to each of the teachers

30  of the student.

31         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1997.
