  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to public school parental

  3         choice; amending s. 228.057, F.S.; requiring

  4         school districts with a controlled open

  5         enrollment program to afford unrestricted

  6         access to the program to parents of students in

  7         multiple session schools; providing an

  8         effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12         Section 1.  Subsection (8) is added to section 228.057,

13  Florida Statutes, 1996 Supplement, to read:

14          228.057  Public school parental choice.--

15         (8)  Notwithstanding any provision of this section, a

16  school district with schools operating on both multiple

17  session schedules and single session schedules shall afford

18  parents of students in multiple session schools unrestricted

19  and immediate access to the controlled open enrollment program

20  of the school district.

21         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July, 1, 1997.
