Subsections (3) and (4) of section 14 400.6211, Florida Statutes, are renumbered as subsections (4) 15 and (5), respectively, and a new subsection (3) is added to 16 said section to read: 17 400.6211 Training and education programs.-- 18 (3) The department, in consultation with the 19 Department of Children and Family Services, shall provide 20 adult family-care home providers with an explanation of 21 financial assistance and other benefits, including food 22 stamps, which may be available to a recipient of supplemental 23 security income (SSI) who resides in an adult family-care 24 home. 25 Section 2. The Department of Elderly Affairs, in 26 consultation with the Agency for Health Care Administration 27 and operators of adult family-care homes, shall study how to 28 apply the concept of "aging in place" to adult family-care 29 homes licensed pursuant to part VII of chapter 400, Florida 30 Statutes, and the feasibility of creating a new licensure 31 category within the adult family-care home program comparable 1 CODING: Words stricken are deletions; words underlined are additions. The department shall recommend to the Legislature 4 any law, rule, or policy changes which would be necessary to 5 allow a person living in an adult family-care home to remain 6 there even as the person's health declines and frailty 7 increases. The department shall make recommendations as to 8 how an adult family-care home can provide the level of care 9 authorized in an assisted living facility licensed as an 10 extended congregate care facility pursuant to part III of 11 chapter 400, Florida Statutes. The department shall consult 12 with the committees of the House of Representatives and the 13 Senate which have jurisdiction in this area. The department 14 shall prepare recommendations concerning the levels of frailty 15 or impairment which are appropriate for this care setting. 16 Further, the department may recommend legislative action that 17 may be necessary. 18 Section 3.
