11  Senator Gutman moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 8, between lines 25 and 26,

15

16  insert:

17         Section 3.  Subsection (6) of section 985.307, Florida

18  Statutes, is amended to read:

19         985.307  Juvenile assignment centers.--

20         (6)  Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary,

21  this section expires July 1, 2002 1998, unless reenacted by

22  the Legislature. The department may not create or operate a

23  juvenile assignment center after July 1, 2002 1998, without

24  further legislative authority. Unless reenacted by the

25  Legislature, any juvenile assignment center created under this

26  section shall be converted to a high-level or maximum-level

27  residential commitment program, subject to availability of

28  funds.

 3         Delete everything before the enacting clause

 5  and insert:

 6                      A bill to be entitled

 7         An act relating to testing of a delinquent

 8         child; amending s. 985.231, F.S., relating to

 9         powers of disposition in delinquency cases;

10         providing that the court may order a delinquent

11         child placed in a community control or

12         aftercare program to submit to random testing

13         for alcohol or controlled substances; providing

14         that the order may be made at the disposition

15         or pursuant to the filing of a petition

16         alleging violation of the conditions of the

17         child's community control or aftercare

18         supervision; reenacting s. 985.31(3)(e), F.S.,

19         relating to serious or habitual offenders, and

20         s. 985.311(3)(e), F.S., relating to
intensive

21         residential treatment program for
offenders

22         less than 13 years of age, to incorporate
said

23         amendment n references; amending s.
985.307,

24         F.S.; postponing expiration date of
juvenile

25         assignment centers; providing an effective

26         date.
