  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to health care contracts;

  3         amending s. 627.419, F.S.; providing that

  4         health insurance policies that provide certain

  5         benefits must pay for the services of advanced

  6         registered nurse practitioners; providing an

  7         effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Subsection (9) is added to section 627.419,

12  Florida Statutes, to read:

13         627.419  Construction of policies.--

14         (9)  Any health insurance policy that provides payment

15  for services that are within the scope of an advanced

16  registered nurse practitioner's professional license is to be

17  construed as providing for payment to an advanced registered

18  nurse practitioner or the employer of an advanced registered

19  nurse practitioner who performs such services if reimbursement

20  for a physician licensed under chapter 458 or 459 would be

21  covered and an advanced registered nurse practitioner performs

22  such services instead of a physician.

23         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

24  law.
