  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to petroleum fuel measuring

  3         devices; amending s. 525.07, F.S.; providing

  4         for the repair and adjustment of such devices

  5         by meter mechanics; providing for notification

  6         of the Department of Agriculture and Consumer

  7         Services; providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Subsection (7) of section 525.07, Florida

12  Statutes, is amended to read:

13         525.07  Powers and duties of department; inspections;

14  unlawful acts.--

15         (7)  It is shall be unlawful for any person to break,

16  cut, or remove any seal applied by the department to a

17  petroleum fuel measuring device or container. When it becomes

18  necessary to repair and adjust a petroleum fuel measuring

19  device during the absence of an inspector of the department,

20  the seal on the meter adjustment may be broken by a person who

21  is registered with the department as a meter mechanic. After

22  repairs and adjustments have been made, the adjusting

23  mechanism must immediately be resealed by the registered meter

24  mechanic with a seal clasp bearing the name of the company or

25  the name or initials of the registered mechanic. The

26  registered mechanic shall immediately notify the department of

27  this action.

28         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

29  law.
