14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

15         On page 34, between lines 22 and 23,

17  insert:

18         Section 25.  The sum of $1 million is appropriated from

19  the General Revenue Fund to the Department of Education to

20  design targeted staff development opportunities to improve

21  student and teacher performance in the classroom. The

22  department shall develop and disseminate staff development

23  materials specifically relating to effective instructional

24  strategies directed at student assessment of progress, methods

25  of effective classroom management, teaching and learning

26  strategies for diverse populations, and improving

27  instructional performance.
