  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Florida Uniform

  3         Disposition of Traffic Infractions Act;

  4         amending s. 318.18, F.S.; providing a

  5         limitation on court costs and administrative

  6         costs with respect to civil penalties for

  7         traffic infractions; providing an effective

  8         date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11

12         Section 1.  Subsection (11) of section 318.18, Florida

13  Statutes, 1996 Supplement, is amended to read:

14         318.18  Amount of civil penalties.--The penalties

15  required for a noncriminal disposition pursuant to s. 318.14

16  are as follows:

17         (11)  Court costs which are to be in addition to the

18  stated fine shall be imposed by the court and administrative

19  costs, by whatever name known shall not exceed 10 percent of

20  the stated fine in an amount not less than the following:

22  For pedestrian infractions................................$ 3.

23  For nonmoving traffic infractions.........................$ 6.

24  For moving traffic infractions............................$10.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1997.

      Revises the Florida Uniform Disposition of Traffic
30    Infractions Act to provide that court costs which are in
      addition to the stated fine for a traffic infraction and
31    administrative costs, by whatever name known shall not
      exceed 10 percent of the stated fine.
