Florida House of Representatives - 1997 HB 779 By Representative Murman 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to the "Work and Gain Economic 3 Self-sufficiency (WAGES) Act"; amending s. 4 414.065, F.S.; raising the age limit for 5 qualifying to receive continuing support 6 through a protective payee in circumstances 7 involving a family member's repeated 8 noncompliance with work requirements of the 9 act; providing an effective date. 10 11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12 13 Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (5) of section 14 414.065, Florida Statutes, 1996 Supplement, is amended to 15 read: 16 414.065 Work requirements.-- 17 (5) CONTINUATION OF ASSISTANCE FOR CHILDREN; 18 PROTECTIVE PAYEES.-- 19 (a) Upon the second or third occurrence of 20 noncompliance, assistance for the child or children in a 21 family who are under age 16 12 may be continued. Any such 22 payments must be made through a protective payee. Under no 23 circumstances shall such assistance be paid to an individual 24 who has failed to comply with program requirements. 25 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 1997. 26 27 ***************************************** 28 SENATE SUMMARY 29 Raises from 12 years to 16 years of age the maximum age of a child who may receive, through a protective payee, 30 continuing assistance under the Work and Gain Economic Self-sufficiency (WAGES) Act in cases involving a family 31 member's noncompliance with work requirements of the act. 1
