11  Senator Cowin moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment 

14         On page 5, line 18, through

15            page 6, line 14, delete those lines

16

17  and insert:  accordance with subsection (7), able to take

18  notes during trial and to ask questions of witnesses or the

19  judge and to have them answered as permitted by law.

20         (d)  Entitled to have questions and requests that arise

21  or are made during deliberations as fully answered and met as

22  allowed by law.

23         (e)  Able to express concerns, complaints, and

24  recommendations to courthouse authorities.

25         (f)  Fairly compensated for jury service.

26         (2)  Immediately after the jury is sworn, the court may

27  instruct the jury concerning its duties, its conduct, the

28  order of proceedings, the procedure for submitting written

29  questions of witnesses or of the court as set forth in

30  subsection (7), and the elementary legal principles that will

31  govern the proceeding.
