  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution proclaiming the week of May 18-24,

  3         1997, "Antique Automobile Week" in Florida.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, the Antique Automobile Club of America,

  6  founded in 1935, is the country's oldest and largest

  7  automotive historical society, and

  8         WHEREAS, the membership has grown to over 55,000

  9  members from all parts of the world who own many thousands of

10  historic automobiles, rare collections of literature, books,

11  films, pictures, and other materials significant to automotive

12  history, and

13         WHEREAS, there are more than 400 Regions and Chapters

14  in nearly every state in the Union, including Florida, and

15  more than 50 foreign countries, and

16         WHEREAS, Tallahassee is one of these member Regions,

17  with over 60 local members, and

18         WHEREAS, these members have a genuine interest in

19  antique automobiles and demonstrate their interest by

20  restoring, preserving, and showing their vehicles for their

21  own enjoyment and knowledge, as well as that of the general

22  public, and

23         WHEREAS, one such national show, the Founders Tour,

24  will take place in Tallahassee during the week of May 18-24,

25  1997, bringing over 200 vintage vehicles and 400 people to

26  North Florida, where these automobiles will be displayed for

27  the pleasure of all, NOW, THEREFORE,

29  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

30  Florida:

  1         That the week of May 18-24, 1997, be proclaimed

  2  "Antique Automobile Week" throughout the State of Florida, and

  3         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the

  4  Tallahassee Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America

  5  be congratulated for their endeavors connected with sponsoring

  6  the Founders Tour during Antique Automobile Week in Florida.
