2 A resolution commending Wogan Stanhope Badcock,
3 Jr.

5 WHEREAS, Wogan Stanhope Badcock, Jr., a life-long
6 resident of Polk County, Florida, until his death on November
7 20, 1996, was born in Mulberry on February 5, 1932, graduated
8 from Mulberry High School and the University of Florida, and
9 served his country as a pilot in the United States Air Force,
10 retiring at the rank of Captain, and
11 WHEREAS, Wogan Stanhope Badcock, Jr., devoted his
12 professional life to the W.S. Badcock Corporation founded by
13 his grandfather in 1904 and now known as Badcock Home
14 Furnishings, which, after Mr. Badcock was named President in
15 1963, under his leadership grew to four distribution centers,
16 364 retail outlets, and over 2,500 employees and, during the
17 past ten years, has consistently ranked among the top five
18 furniture retailers in the United States, and
19 WHEREAS, Wogan Stanhope Badcock, Jr., was involved in
20 numerous philanthropic, civic, community, and church
21 activities that benefited many in his community and throughout
22 Florida and, having displayed a special interest in supporting
23 education in Florida, was on numerous occasions appropriately
24 recognized for his efforts, NOW, THEREFORE,

26 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
27 Florida:

29 That the Florida House of Representatives recognize and
30 express its gratitude for the many achievements and
31 contributions of Wogan Stanhope Badcock, Jr.

1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
2 be presented to the family of Wogan Stanhope Badcock, Jr., as
