1 House Resolution
2 A resolution establishing the week of May 4,
3 1997, through May 10, 1997, as Municipal Clerks
4 Week.

6 WHEREAS, it is imperative to the democratic process
7 that a well-informed citizenry participate in the operation of
8 their local government, and
9 WHEREAS, the office of Municipal Clerk provides the
10 communication link between citizens, the local governing body
11 and administrative departments, and agencies of government at
12 other levels, and
13 WHEREAS, Municipal Clerks serve as an information
14 center with respect to the functions of their local government
15 by distributing published materials and reports, offering
16 educational presentations to community and school groups, and
17 answering questions with regard to the activities and programs
18 of local government, and
19 WHEREAS, Municipal Clerks and their staff, upon their
20 own initiative, have participated in education programs,
21 seminars, workshops, and annual meetings of their state,
22 regional, and international professional organizations which
23 have improved the operation of their offices, and
24 WHEREAS, through the many achievements of Municipal
25 Clerks and the numerous awards and accolades which have been
26 bestowed upon them, Municipal Clerks have brought a great deal
27 of favorable publicity to the communities they serve, NOW,
28 THEREFORE,

30 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
31 Florida:

1 That the week of May 4, 1997, through May 10, 1997, is
2 hereby recognized as Municipal Clerks Week.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Florida House of
4 Representatives urges the citizens of Florida to extend their
5 appreciation to the Florida Association of City Clerks and to
6 all City Clerks in the state in recognition of the vital
7 services they perform and their exemplary dedication to the
8 communities they represent.
