  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution commending George Dickerson for

  3         his service to his community and proclaiming

  4         April 5, 1997, as "George Dickerson Day."

  6         WHEREAS, George Dickerson, a resident of Gilchrist

  7  County, has delighted children and adults alike in schools,

  8  churches, hospitals, and nursing homes in the North Florida

  9  area with his magic shows, and

10         WHEREAS, Mr. Dickerson, affectionately known as "The

11  Magic Man," uses his performances in the fight against drugs,

12  crime, and dropping out of school, and to emphasize the

13  positive, "Get well and take care of yourself," and

14         WHEREAS, Mr. Dickerson, always willing to participate

15  in fundraisers and civic gatherings, has given freely of

16  himself, averaging 350 shows a year and asking only that his

17  audiences pass on a good deed to someone else, and

18         WHEREAS, the citizens of Gilchrist County and the City

19  of Trenton have proclaimed April 5, 1997, as "George Dickerson

20  Day," NOW, THEREFORE,

22  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

23  Florida:

25         That the House of Representatives commends George

26  Dickerson for his tireless service to his community and joins

27  the citizens of Gilchrist County and the City of Trenton in

28  proclaiming April 5, 1997, as "George Dickerson Day."

29         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

30  be presented to George Dickerson as a tangible token of the

31  sentiments expressed herein.
