Florida House of Representatives - 1997 HR 9079 By Representative Hafner 1 House Resolution 2 A resolution honoring members of Phi Theta 3 Kappa. 4 5 WHEREAS, April 9, 1997, "Florida Phi Theta Kappa Day" 6 is an appropriate time for the Legislature of the State of 7 Florida to recognize and salute Phi Theta Kappa, the esteemed 8 international honor society for community and junior colleges, 9 and 10 WHEREAS, special commendations should be extended to 11 the outstanding scholars who comprise Phi Theta Kappa's 12 All-Florida Academic Team, a team of highly successful 13 community college students assembled by the State Board of 14 Community Colleges to participate in the Phi Theta Kappa's 15 All-Florida Academic Team competition, and 16 WHEREAS, 89 students from 25 of Florida's community 17 colleges were named to the All-Florida Academic Team, and 18 WHEREAS, based on the national ranking of these 19 students in the All-USA Academic Team competition sponsored by 20 USA Today and Phi Theta Kappa, which is recognized 21 internationally, nationally, and in the State of Florida as 22 the primary community college organization for the recognition 23 of academic achievement, leadership, and service to the 24 community, the following students comprise the All-Florida 25 Academic First, Second, and Third Teams: First Team members, 26 Cristal L.
