  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution commending the Florida Dental

  3         Association and recognizing April 2, 1997, as

  4         "Dentists' Day on the Hill."

  5

  6         WHEREAS, the Florida Dental Association is a state

  7  professional association which was founded in 1884 by 12

  8  dentists and which now represents over 6,500 member dentists

  9  in this state and maintains permanent offices in Tallahassee,

10  and

11         WHEREAS, the Florida Dental Association was formed to

12  encourage the improvement of the public's dental health, to

13  promote the art and science of dentistry, and to address the

14  concerns of the members of the dental profession and the

15  public they serve, and

16         WHEREAS, the Florida Dental Association is sponsoring

17  its second annual "Dentists' Day on the Hill," scheduled for

18  Wednesday April 2, 1997, for the purpose of meeting with

19  legislators to discuss the concerns of its members about the

20  future of the dental profession and particularly the impact of

21  legislative issues on the practice of dentistry and the public

22  served by that practice, and

23         WHEREAS, the members of the Florida House of

24  Representatives find that dentists perform a valuable public

25  health service and that the Florida Dental Association is the

26  primary association representing the dentists of this state,

27  NOW, THEREFORE,

29  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

30  Florida:

  1         That the Florida House of Representatives commends the

  2  Florida Dental Association and its members for their

  3  contributions to the health and welfare of the residents of

  4  this state and recognizes April 2, 1997, as "Dentists' Day on

  5  the Hill."
