2 A resolution in memory of Officer Robert
3 Vargas.

5 WHEREAS, Officer Robert Vargas, born in Miami on
6 February 4, 1968, was a graduate of Hialeah High School,
7 served in the United States Army Airborne Rangers, and
8 attended Miami-Dade Community College, and
9 WHEREAS, Officer Vargas joined the Metro-Dade Police
10 Department in 1994, stating that it was a "life-long dream
11 come true," and
12 WHEREAS, Officer Robert Vargas strived for excellence
13 in everything he did, and his love for police work was
14 expressed in the testimony of a colleague, "He was so
15 well-liked even the people he arrested liked him," and
16 WHEREAS, Officer Vargas' career ended on February 7,
17 1997, in the line of duty, as a result of a traffic accident,
18 and
19 WHEREAS, Officer Vargas was a good provider and was
20 devoted to his family, his wife, Barbara, his 3-year-old son,
21 Robert Anthony, his 4-month-old daughter, Amber Nicole, and
22 his parents, Adelina and Frederico Vargas, and
23 WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that this legislative
24 body take this time to commend the life and service of Officer
25 Robert Vargas, NOW, THEREFORE,

27 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

1 That the House of Representatives pauses in its
2 deliberations to pay its respects to Metro-Dade Police Officer
3 Robert Vargas.
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
5 be presented to Mrs. Barbara Vargas as a tangible token of the
6 sentiments expressed herein.
